Greetings!
The Friends of Spenceville have taken on a new project. In conjunction with Sierra Streams, we are now doing monthly water quality monitoring in both Dry and Little Dry Creeks in Spenceville.
The first Tuesday after the first Saturday of each month will find from four to eight volunteers sampling water at eight different sites. After collection water is tested for temperature, ph, conductivity, bacteria, turbidity and dissolved oxygen at Sierra Streams laboratory in Nevada City. We began testing in April and plan to continue for the foreseeable future. It would be great to have a few more folks aboard to allow us flexibility in staffing.
We continue our quarterly roadside cleanup, and recently worked with the Department of Fish and Wildlife planting some native riparian species. There is a wide range of possible future projects, including potential to do some non-native species mapping and possibly organize and begin some removal efforts.
We're always eager to hear from other interested people and groups that value Spenceville as much as we do .
We are incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit.
